Bishop Castle is a castle built by one man, Jim Bishop. Jim Bishop first bought this land for $450 in 1969 originally for a family cottage, but moved onto becoming a castle after he surrounded the cottage with stone which the neighbors stated that it looked like a castle.
It is free to enter, donations are accepted though. There is also a gift shop on the premises with many items to buy and help out the continuing developing of the castle. In March of 2018 there was a fire in the old giftshop which was built into the castle but since then they have a seperate building for the gift.
All of the construction on this castle is by Jim Bishop including getting all the materials to this remote place and welding which is very impressive.
You may wonder how safe this place is, it is safe to climb and look around as long as you fallow the posted signs, which there are only a few of.
All the stain glass is home made by him and guests. They are a beautiful addition to the castle. There are some missing because they broke.
The front of the castle has a large metal dragon sticking out of the top. The dragon adds more of the medieval times, this was also fully created by Jim Bishop.
There are balconies around the second floor of the building were you can walk around it. If you are afraid of heights I would suggest advoiding this part.
The view from the top of the castle is beautiful and a view you wouldn't see anywhere else. There is a forest and wildlife all around this castle.
